Nina
Iskrenko

A poet, translator, and prose writer. Born in 1951 in Petrovsk, Saratov Region. Graduated from the Faculty of Physics at Moscow State University and worked as a translator of scientific and technical literature. In the late 1980s she was a member of the Poetry Club (“Poeziya”), a semi-official association of non-censored poets of her generation. She translated contemporary American poetry. Three of Iskrenko’s lifetime collections were published in 1991 (Or, Referendum—in Moscow, and A Few Words—in Paris). A complete collected edition of her poems was published posthumously by ARGO-RISK and Kolonna Publications in Russia, but the project was not completed. In 1995, a book of Iskrenko’s poems in English translation (The Right to Err: Selected Work) was published in Colorado.
