Swedish literary critic, Professor of Aesthetics at Södertörn University, and Associate Professor of Literature at Uppsala University. Born in 1962 in Täby, she died in 2019 in Stockholm. From 2013 to 2019, she was a member of the Swedish Academy, and from 2015 onward, its Permanent Secretary. Danius was called “the literary queen of Sweden” and “the nation’s beloved intellectual.” She was also a professional basketball player and a style icon. The richness and depth of Danius’s personality are reflected in her writings, which are recognized as classics of contemporary Swedish criticism and essay writing.
