Poet, essayist, and translator, one of the key Serbian poets of the 20th century. Born in 1931 in Belgrade. His poems were first published in 1952, and his debut collection Bivši dečak (The Former Boy) came out in 1955. From 1961, he served as secretary of the Yugoslav Writers' Union. From 1979 to 1993, he was editor-in-chief of the Belgrade publishing house Nolit. During his lifetime, eleven collections of his poetry were published. He died in Belgrade in 1996.
