Translator into Russian, physicist, and programmer. Born in 1960 in Moscow. Graduated from the Faculty of Molecular and Biological Physics at MIPT. Lives in the USA. Translates from English, Scots, and French. Known for his translations of Robert Burns, Rudyard Kipling, Stéphane Mallarmé, Oscar Wilde, Sara Teasdale, Leconte de Lisle, Maurice Rollinat, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, and others. He is the translator of David Herbert Lawrence's book Birds, Beasts and Flowers, currently in preparation for publication. Dmitry Manin's Russian translations include Ted Hughes's Crow: From the Life and Songs of the Crow (St. Petersburg: Jaromír Hladík press, 2020) and Allen Ginsberg's Howl. Kaddish (St. Petersburg: Podpisnye Izdaniya, 2021); his translation from Russian into English is Nikolai Zabolotsky's poetry collection Columns (Arc Publications, 2023).
